Ready to let ChatGPT pick your morning brew? Starbucks on Wednesday debuted a beta app in OpenAI's popular chatbot that helps customers discover new drink options — a nod to the fact that "customers aren't always starting with a menu, they're starting with a feeling," according to Paul Riedel, SVP of Digital and Loyalty. Unique or unusual drinks like the off-menu Cake Batter Frappuccino are now surfaced when users describe a mood or occasion in natural language.

OpenAI's hiring tells you they're shipping a platform, not just models. In the past year they hired 4,213 people (+81% headcount), and their five fastest-growing skills are all consumer-product (Elasticsearch +117%, Cloud Applications +115%, Go-to-Market Strategy +114%, React.js +113%, React Native +113%). The Starbucks app is the early proof: third-party brands now ship inside ChatGPT, not just to it.
